Eressos
The traditional Eressos on the mountain and Skala Eressos by the sea are another two villages that are worth visiting.
The first, picturesque and petrified in time, located at the edge of an infertile canyon, with a selenary appearance that hosts the most beautiful forest of oleanders that I’ve ever seen and Skala Eressou, that small city where you immediately feel at home – whether you’re a family man, a hippie, LGBT or a nudist. On a 3 meters long beach, everybody is well received! I have the following advice for you: forget about the clock and enjoy Eresos! The cooperative of women in Mesotopos
Several associations of women were established in the ’90, by their work contributing to the conservation of local networks, to the Lesvian gastronomic fortune but also to the island’s advertising or the regional economic development. Women are involved in the manufacture of traditional products, wishing to provide to those interested the purest food provided by their generous land. The gulf of Kaloni city
Located in the center of the island, Kaloni is considered the second capital of the island, maybe because of the natural wealth of the area. Part of the Natura 2000 Network, Gulf Kaloni is the appropriate place to admire numerous species of birds that attract both researchers as well as lovers of ornithology around the world.
Its plains with fertile land generate the tastiest fruits and its calm and clean waters contain the best sardines, but also the famous salt of Kaloni. Its swamps are a shelter for Flamingo birds, the forests are ideal for hiking and horse riding, here you can also learn to fish, to enjoy water sports or just to take a tour among orchards of olive trees and then at a historical factory in order to understand the process of oil extraction.

Agiasos is like an old story, with paved houses and alleys, on a slope that all take towards a central market where you can enjoy a “cainar” – tea of plants from the area – a Greek coffee on sand or other meals or local beverages, next to a splendid church, Panagia of Agiasos that dates from 1170.
Recognized for the mastery of artisans in pottery or artists of wood, this village is even today a testimony that nature will always be our home, but also an inexhaustible source of inspiration.
Mytilene
Mytilene is a noble and cosmopolitan city. The place of birth of a unique culture, with an impressive architectural wealth, Mytilene has a history that spreads over more than 3000 years.
The ancient ruins are visible everywhere, the Ottoman influences, but also of those who wanted to possess it over millennia being felt.
The historical center is pretty small, but chic and easy to go through. Ermou Street, the commercial street of the capital used to be a channel that was uniting the two large harbors of the city and today it is a place where you can hide among cafés and pubs or you can enjoy local treats, including the famous…Ouzo!
Mytilene is known for its nights, when the town “lights up” and becomes lively like a big city, however preserving its charm of provincial town where everyone …..knows everyone!
Taverna Kardasia is a place of meeting, it seems, for all those who want to indulge in the best sardines I have ever eaten or to let themselves spoiled with the recipes of the day even by the owner of the tavern, who, at 4 am in the morning goes fishing and in the evening he starts cooking! The Mytilene castle, built in Byzantine times over other ancient fortifications, is wearing the symbols of Gatelouzi and Palaiologoi families and is one of the largest in the Mediterranean area. Being in full process of rehabilitation the castle remains guarding at the height of the town, as it has been doing for so long….The cisterns of the fortification are absolutely impressive, the view over the town is magnificent and the history of the foundation is one worth discovering!
